September 12, Finley!

And here is FINLEY!!!! I painted another shot of Finley leaping, that I'm not quite finished with yet, and as I post this one I am realizing I forgot to write "FINLEY" on his dog tag~  these things happen-
I usually end up touching up most of these pieces before the final show anyway~

Finley has a following-  I'll see if I can share his instagram with you!

Hi Kat,
It's Sandy Haynes, from the Carol Marine workshop.....
How are you doing? I thought I'd check in with you, since it's been sooo long...
I've been painting en plein air lately, and loving it. There is a great group in St. Louis that goes out every Sunday to paint together somewhere in the area, and we have such fun. Everyone is so very supportive, and we encourage one another and share tips, events, even lunch sometime. ha
I wondered if you had done any workshops lately? Last October I went to Ohio to take a workshop with Shelby Keefe.... I love her style. I've been doing quite a few commissions, as well. I have a patron that just keeps me busy with houses, dogs, and she just asked me to paint her grandchildren. I love doing them, too.
Please leave me a note on my blog if you get a minute. I'd love to hear from you. Your dogs are so wonderful.... I just love the expressions, and you make it look easy with limited brushstrokes, and I know how hard that is. My portraits of dogs are sooo overworked, oh well..... hahaha
Have fun in the classroom with the kiddos, and happy painting, Sandy

Hi Kat, Sandy Haynes here...
I just left a long comment, but it didn't post, sorry.
I just wanted to say Hi and keep in touch with you... Love those doggies !
I've done a couple of dogs lately, but mine, I will tell you, are SO overworked, oh well..... they were commissions, and they were happy about them, so I guess all is good.
I've been doing plein air lately (2years now) and loving it. I'm in a cool group of talented painters who are So supportive, it really makes it fun !
Write to me sometime, I'd love to hear about what you are up to.
I will try to post this now, and see what happens.... happy painting, and teaching !!
