May 30, 2013

Last night was our last Painting Class and I took some action shots and some group shots-  we seemed to have a bit more fun than usual... I often bring a bottle of wine for the last class and some snacks-  we had beer and cider AND wine and potato chips!

I've also been thinking about trying to paint people more- so I've sorta decided to try to paint a person a day til I start the dogs... or til I have to REALLY get a commission done...
Here's my fav subjects...

Wednesday May 22

Ah!  Here is another Ireland painting!  This one was from Bunawonder beach, a little dirt path that Beaner gamely directed the minivan down when we all commented loudly on the roadside sign...
It is 8x10, $100 unframed, and will be at Rye on Friday!  $145 framed!
Dang I lOVE painting!  Water and sky, baby~  yum!
Yes come to Rye on Friday for my Happy Hour Art Opening!  All new Ireland Paintings!  And my dad will come too and will tell stories if you ask him!

Tuesday May 21, 2013~

Okay, I think I remember that my new year's resolution was to NOT apologize so much, because while there is merit in an apology if some hurt or insult has been inflicted, in MY case it is my Minnesotanness that is causing me to feel that I need an excuse for why I haven't been posting...  when in reality you are all sitting on the edges of your seats just waiting til you see another post from me in your inbox, right?!
Whew~
So I am writing up my labels for the show at Rye and thought I'd posted a LOT more images of Ireland on here!  What made me think that?
I'm posting last week's Painting Lessons work that I haven't posted yet instead!  More Ireland TOMORROW!
Good thing Max is so cute or I wouldn't want to waste time on him!
Good thing for Duane to be cute too...

Friday May 17th!

Wow!
I HAVE been painting but seem to somehow fall under the "It's so nice out, let's sit under the trees for a bit longer" kinda spell of this spring so I am remiss in posting!
This is from the Connemara National Park, on one of the few sunny moments we had in Ireland~  I LOVE the movement in this.  The stones are winking in the light and the tree branches are dancing with the negative space of the sky!
I sat last night and cropped all my incredible student work from Wed night's painting class, but I don't have them with me so you'll have to wait til tomorrow!  I do have to say that I learn as much as my students in these classes, and have gratefully appreciated the intelligent and perceptive comments given to me.  Learning to do anything is a struggle, and to do it with commitment is even harder.

Back from Grand Marais! Whew~ Sunday Night...

You know, it is incredibly exhausting to spend a weekend creating work, with that being the focus of the time....
And it is especially wonderful if you end up having a pile of supportive people who are totally equally exhausted, and just want to sit and drink wine and watch "Doc Martin" but who instead are willing to help you while you are adjusting to the discomfort of total and complete irritation in an attempt to stuff it and not worry about it while trying to be true to yourself and your art....
okay to most of you that will make no sense whatsoever, and to my painting class, I will explain on Wednesday, and to everyone at the Art Colony in Grand Marais this weekend, THANK YOU!!!!!!
Here's a couple things...
More tomorrow when I've recovered a better level of grammar...

Tuesday, May 7th!

Man, SO much happens in a couple days around here!   So Art4Shelter was absolutely outrageous!  I handed out clipboards at the checkout line, and had so many people there, moving through quickly and loving their art!  Awesomeness!
And the Mayday Parade on Sunday was a delight of dancing Butting goats in our section...
AND finally HERE are some of the wonderful paintings from LAST WEEKS Painting LEssons!  And I am heading up to Grand Marais to paint some more this weekend so STAY TUNED!
oh and NEXT weekend is Art A Whirl and the Closing Party for the "30 Cats in 30 Days" and the weekend after THAT is my "Ireland" Show at Rye!
Stay tuned!
