June 30th! 30 Dogs Official List!

Hi all!
Here's a couple dogs to entice you for the next month-  both are from photos I took while in England-  we just got back Friday night and have been jetlagging a bit here...
SO the Official List is below, and I wanted to be sure and include the disclaimer that, being human, I may make adjustments and changes to this list, just so's you know!  But it does feel pretty solid to me-  a lot of dogs and I am excited to paint!  It was tricky making those final decisions about who to include, and I may jump back into the list if a painting goes well and I want to paint an extra on a day, so you never really know who is IN!

Thanks for the comments, all!  I do find them helpful~  There will be more dogs VERY SOON!  I am going through my photos of all the submitted dogs and printing them and making a pile with my favorites and "yeS!"s and "maybes" so hopefully YOUR dog is in there!

Sunday June 23

A couple paintings this morning-  Beaner took these at Hardcastle Crag, on her way around Bronte country, and I've given her the second one as a present to take to Australia!

Here is Max walking along the canal-  I am still working on it-  want to get into the shadows and his nose is off...
I am painting a dog at the moment... and it is raining all over the glass room~

Thursday eve!

Man! painted and struggled with an earlier version-  like this mostly.. can't wait to have Duane back to child sharing duties...

And now, I am seeing that I need to rephoto this again..  way too dark-

Wed, right? Whew!

Here is what you might call a street dog in England, accompanying his master as he plays his music at the square, but I would say this fella seemed to know who he was at all times...

 A really large and lovely dog...

Max, of course, again.  This time on the Guerilla paper gessoed black-  I'll do another on the brown, because I find the contrast of pulling white through brown interesting...  skin tones...

Monday June 17th

So yes, I am loving painting my Maxie, but I miss dogs too, and so I asked kind strangers to let me take photos of their dogs, and here is one of a beautiful pair of greyhounds I met at the market on saturday!

 And now I see it here, I am thinking I didn't properly suggest the splendid length of his neck... may need to redo this one~

And here is a redo of Maxie from yesterday-  I think his gaze makes more sense now~ and I like the tones on his face better as well~

Sunday June16th!

Here is Maxie, engrossed in a BBC tv episode of "64 Zoo Lane"...  the DVD player's charger blew, so we are watching on my laptop, which really shortens my personal computer time...
This was painted on Guerilla Board I found at Wet Paint-  I didn't want to bring too many heavy panels along and this is a kind of card board that's been treated with resin and such... we'll see...  I didn't gesso this one black~  so the brown card shows through~

Friday the 14th~

Here is Max in the rain, which is what seems to be the regular atmospheric identity around hereabouts!  He is at the playground down the street from the Handmade Parade building space, and we just saw a tractor come down the road, so he's pretending the wooden train he's standing in is of course a tractor...

He has his lips pressed together in a grin and looks older to me than his 4 years-  the light is kinda funny, and the shadows under the hood-  we need to head out quickly so I haven't had as much time as I'd like on this one-  may go back into it if I can!

Thursday June 13

I've always liked 13-  I don't know if it was because I wanted to go against the crowd when I was a kid, or because I wasn't allowed to watch any of those "Friday the 13th" horror flicks (not that I would want to now) but I always like 13 and the black cats that seemed to go with it... but this is a THURSDAY!
And here is another Max!
I just set up a new fresh palette and I think it shows...  I love slick new wet paint~

Max on his first real (not light rail) train ride!

He really is delighted~  it is SO fun having that exuberance around all the time!  I mean, ALMOST all the time...

Well, usually...

And I'll be getting on to some dogs too, I hope!  Keep those dogs coming!  I'm getting the list toghether!  And if you need to, here is the little website with more info-

MOnday, June 10th~

Okay, trying to wear out an active 4 year old can wear you out...  so here is tonight's attempt-
Duane says I am getting better, but I still can't wait to get back to the DOGS!!!!  Keep sending the word out to your friends!
And things may be a bit odd for the next couple weeks...

Actually, in the reference photo, Max is sitting on Duane's shoulders...  there is a bit of glee, I hope, though I do think his eye on the left as you look at him is a bit low...

Sunday June 9th!

Yes, here is another Max... not quite hitting my "one Max a day" goal, but I will give myself a bit of space here...
whew!

His eyes still feel a bit unfinished... gotta keep at it-  But I love the colors in human skin... and trying to shut my brain off that wants to tell me how to draw a nose, three little circles, and all those " Drawing Portraits 101" things I've tried to teach.  Really, you have to just LOOK~

Sat June 8th!

Here is another Max for your enjoyment... something about painting a kid when his attention is so hooked elsewhere, he nearly looks angelic...
I think it is the light in a bathroom too, with all that whiteness bouncing around, that makes it SO great to paint!

Monday, June 3rd!

Holy COW!!! It is JUNE already!  Ack!  And yes, I have been painting almost a Max a day, but keep running out of time to post them!
From helping Grama and Grampa in their yard on saturday...

I think he looks a bit BUddha-ish...

and the shapes just aren't as easy as animals for me!
