June 2, White Earth Bear

And here's another example of why I enjoy painting black animals so much!  The coat reflects the light, and it is a lovely thing.  I did talk to a couple people at Art-A Whirl about bears they'd seen in the woods, and they said the black fur was so dense and dark, it was like a hole.  This seems to me to fit the matte black gesso I use, because it isn't shiny, but the paint I use is, so you end up with that contrast of shiny to not-so-shiny.  Technical terms~  yes~
That nose, with those lips-  probably as good as fingers at getting berries off bushes!
